“Sometimes you just have to say it like it is” – Part 1

Okay, fair enough. But are you doing it in the right way?

What’s usually meant by this statement is what we in Dutch refer to with the saying:

Is cracking the whip always best?
Is cracking the whip always best?

“De zweep erover!” (“Bring out the whip!”)

In other words:

Give things a good shake-up and call people to account, so order is restored and everyone works hard again.

Sounds tough. Decisive.

But does it really have the desired effect? 🤨

To find out, you have to start with this question: What is your ultimate goal?

Usually, it boils down to:

➡️ Doing something in a certain way to achieve the “right” outcome

In other words:

🔸 Increasing output

🔹 Increasing efficiency

🔸 Adhering to protocols

🔹 Or sometimes: doing it *my* “right way”

That’s the bottom line.

And there’s nothing wrong with that.

Even if it means pushing through your own “right way.”

If you want to change behavior, it’s important to know this:

Why do people change their...

🔵 Actions

🔴 Inactions

🔵 Thinking

🔴 and ways of working?

If you don’t have this clear, you risk seeing short-term success that disappoints in the long run. ⛔️

In the coming days, we’ll dive into the psychology of change and inspiring leadership.

So you’ll know what truly drives people to change.
