Here’s what I’d do to ACTIVELY destroy a veterinary professional’s mental health... 😈





Mental health awareness in the veterinary field is growing.


And that’s a very good thing.

Because mental health doesn’t just affect your mood.


Prolonged issues also take a physical toll:

🛑 Fatigue

🛑 Exhaustion

🛑 Loss of resilience

🛑 Even full-blown burnout


So, hypothetically:

How would I crush a veterinary professional?

😈 Using science, of course! 😈

Based on research, I would:


Mastenbroek et al., 2014:

✅ Remove their autonomy

✅ Deny them mentorship

✅ Refuse opportunities for professional development

✅ Discourage relationships with colleagues


Dunne et al., 2018:

✅ Deny access to coaching

✅ Evaluate subjectively instead of objectively


Hanzes et al., 2008:

✅ Force long working hours

✅ Apply relentless pressure

✅ Expect constant availability, even at home


Lovell et al., 2013:

✅ Assign monotonous tasks

✅ Offer no backup or room for consultation

✅ Stoke interpersonal conflicts


Dowling, 2019:

✅ Prohibit therapy (group or individual)

✅ Discourage compassion at work

✅ Mock meditation practices


AVMA, 2016:

✅ Create distance between colleagues during onboarding

✅ Take over cases to hinder knowledge-sharing

✅ Skip teaching new skills

✅ Avoid giving feedback

✅ Ban communication between team members
